5th Thanaversary Ceremony
January 29, 2025
Burial & Memorial Unveiling
Crown Hill Cemetery
On the fifth anniversary of Ben's death, we gathered at Crown Hill Cemetery to bury a memorial box painted with galaxies and stars by his father, Gary, which contained a little silver case with Ben's first curls, as well as memorabilia from his life. Our three grandchildren, Henry, Eleanor and Rose unveiled the memorial stone, covered with a baby blanket made by Ben's Grandmother Jane, engraved with Ben's birth and death years. The ceremony was officiated by Rabbi Will Berkovitz with cello music played by Andrew Murphy, and attended by a large gathering of family and friends.
May his memory be a blessing.

in loving memory

"That was a beautiful service yesterday, so full of love. I'm honored to have been a small part of the larger community holding you through this ceremony. Your stories were precious and brought Ben to life. The beautiful box and the list of contents inside touched me." Katy M.
"You did a beautiful job at creating a memorable gathering to celebrate Ben's life. The painted box was so touching. Having Sarah's children unveil the monument was also so touching. And your storytelling (both of you) was vivid in detail. Gary, I thought your allusion to Caravaggio's chiaroscuro was a perfect description of Ben's troubles. The light and the dark. I wish I had recorded your stories for you, but I didn't know if you would want that so I just let them fill our ears and hearts en plein air." Rosanne O.
"The service was deeply moving and touched my heart. I felt truly honored to be there. I have clear memories of Ben as a child being thoughtful and kind. As he got older, my impression was that he was a very bright boy. I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with you." Christine C.
I wanted to tell you and Gary it was one of the most touching ceremonies that I have attended. I went away with a glad heart to know how talented and how much he had impacted the world in such a short time. He was a very special young man. What a loving tribute you and Gary made for him. Marlene R.
Special thanks to Chaplain Muriel Dance who prepared the Program and was unable to officiate at the service.
